Over the years many of our teachers have been interested in visiting multiple countries in one trip. There can be many reasons for this such as different language departments joining on one trip, two countries being related to the teaching curriculum, or simply so that students can get multiple stamps on their passport. Whatever the reason, here are some of our favourite countries to pair up together!
France and Spain
France and Spain have a lot in common. Along with sharing a border and a Latin-based language, they both found wealth in the 15th/16th centuries through their American colonies. One of the results is that today, French and Spanish are the most learned languages in the United States. Thus, this combo trip is a great way to bring the French and Spanish students at your school together on one trip! At Prometour we have offices in both these countries, and love doing combo France-Spain tours. Travel between the two countries is simple, and can be done so through high-speed trains. You can even ask your Tour Consultant about adding a host-family portion to your stay, or language school classes.
Italy and Greece
These two countries are on every ancient historian’s must-see list! Students are naturally drawn to Ancient Greek and Roman mythology, history, and stories. Who hasn’t heard of Hercules or the epics of the Iliad or the Odyssey? Pop-culture has already taught us so much about these times through movies, TV shows, video games, you name it! Therefore, students are already primed to learn as much as they can and get the facts. Especially when they get to go on an end of the year combo trip to Italy and Greece, and see sites such as the Coliseum, the Parthenon, or the entire town of Pompeii! Talk to your Tour Consultant about how to best incorporate what you’ve taught in your classes into a fantastic trip that the students are sure to remember!
Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
As mentioned, French and Spanish are the most learned languages in the United States. Want to take a guess as to the third? That’s right, it’s German! These three countries are also known for their extensive history, stunning landscapes, and are leaders in technology and energy, making these trips a great option for STEM departments. With all this variety you can appeal to students of all disciplines at your school! Ask your Tour Consultant to help you plan a great tour full of all the must-sees, such as Neuschwanstein Castle, Schönbrunn Palace, or the Rhine Falls!
We hope your school is on the right-track to picking the perfect trip for its students, suited to their needs. We are more than happy to help! Give us a call today to speak to a Tour Consultant.
Until then, Auf Wierdersehen!
