Prometour’s Favourite Quebec Winter Carnaval Activities

Written by Erin C | Jan 31, 2023 3:32:28 PM

The countdown is almost over - the Quebec Winter Carnaval is just around the corner! We’ve been pouring over this year’s program and compiling a list of the most exciting activities. Want to know what we’re most looking forward to? Check out our list below:

The Return of the Winter Carnaval Paraded

The Parades are back and it seems like the Winter Carnaval Committee is making up for lost time! Rather than following one single route for each weekend celebration, they have planned for 2 separate paths: one through the lower city and a second through the upper. With 300 performers, this year’s parades will be hard to forget!

The Silent Disco

The Winter Carnaval is putting a unique (and quiet!) spin on a traditional dance party with their nightly Silent Disco! Stop by the Videotron Bonhomme’s Campground to grab a pair of wireless headphones and spend the night dancing with your friends.

The Ball-Pit Pool

You’ll want to jump into this activity feet first – literally! Hidden underneath an igloo in Videotron’s Bonhomme Campground you’ll find a ball-pit. This activity is one of our favorites, because let’s be honest, when else will you be able to have a winter pool party?!

Scotiabank Snow Sculpture Routes

What would Carnaval be without the snow sculptures?! Don’t miss an opportunity to explore the city’s many routes to discover the frozen works of art! Michel Lapire and his team have been working diligently to beautify Quebec’s main streets with ice sculptures all exploring the theme of French-Canadian music.

The Canoe Race

If you’re visiting Quebec City during the first weekend of Carnaval you’ll want to see the canoe races. Stop by Wharves19 and 21 at 1 PM on February 5th to see the teams push and paddle through the ice. Sit comfortably on dryland as you cheer on the winning team!
