Tell us about yourself!
Montreal, born and raised. I grew up in the east end and eventually migrated over to the complete opposite side. I now live steps away from the Lachine Canal, which is awesome.
I love music, traveling, snowboarding, and reading!
What made you apply to Prometour?
I knew that I wanted to work in the travel industry, and when I saw a position for a job that allows me to design and sell itineraries specifically to teachers, I had to jump at the chance.
The idea of helping kids to experience new cultures and make incredible memories is something that I instantly connected with and knew I wanted to be a part of.
Having traveled a bit myself, I can say from experience that some things just cannot be appreciated or learned the same way in a classroom. There really is nothing more amazing than stepping off an airplane and seeing a whole new world in front of you waiting for you to explore!
What are the top destinations you’ve visited and which was your favourite?
I’ve been to a few countries in Europe: mainly Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Germany.
I’ve also seen a small portion of Canada, the United States, Mexico, Belize, the Cayman Islands, and Honduras.
It’s difficult to pick a favorite, but if I had to go back to one place again, I’d probably want to go back to Spain and travel the country entirely.
What was your most valuable travel experience?
I’d have to say it was an early morning in Prague. We’d gone out to a really cool night club and stayed out until maybe 5 or 6am.
On the walk back home, we watched the sunrise as we walked across the Charles Bridge.
It wasn’t much, but if I close my eyes I can still see that view and remember that incredible feeling.
What was the craziest thing that has ever happened to you while traveling?
One summer while cliff-jumping in Menorca, I accidentally dropped my GoPro on impact as I hit the water and it sank about 10 meters down to the bottom of the ocean. After I stopped panicking, my friends and I all took turns attempting to swim that far down to retrieve it.
I now have about 10 minutes worth of footage of fish swimming around followed by the image of a hand reaching for the camera.
What destinations are on your bucket list and why?
I definitely want to see more (all) of Europe: Italy, Portugal and Croatia are next on my list.
I also want to one day take a cross-country road trip to see all of Canada!
Which Prometour Tour would you travel on?
I have definitely set my sights on a Costa Rica trip!
What is the best piece of travel advice you can give someone?
Make sure you have a map or a fully charged cell phone with a data plan, and then just get yourself lost.
Wander the streets, take public transportation and get off at random stops, eat the local dishes, meet locals and try to see the city through their eyes.
Basically, just go off the beaten path.
It’s great to take the time to see the tourist attractions, but the real memories of your travels will come from the experiences that you can’t really post about on Instagram
Also: WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. Keep a travel blog, jot down stories, funny anecdotes, places you’ve seen, and the things you loved most.
Revisiting your blogs will keep the memories fresh in your mind for years to come!
